DINOSAURS IN THE BIBLE

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.(Genesis 1:20-25)
The Bible mentions two dinosaurs by name and describes them in great detail. "Behemoth" (Job 40:15-24) and "Leviathan" (Job 41:1-34) From the description found in Job, scientists have attempted to identify these animals. They believe "Behemoth" is a Hippo and "Leviathan" is a Crocodile. But these scientists limited their choices to non-extinct species and did not consider the possibility of dinosaurs because man and dinosaur never coexisted. Oh really? Even in my own personal Bible a footnote suggests these two animals were a hippo and a crock! But there are some obvious reasons why this conclusion is wrong.

First, "Behemoth" cannot be a Hippo because of Job 40:17 "He bends his tail like a cedar". A hippo has a short tail like a pig. Behemoth, had a large tail shaped like a cedar tree (large and tapered). I believe a better choice is that Behemoth is a Brachiosaurus type of large land dwelling dinosaur. It fits the description perfect.

Second, "Leviathan" cannot be a Crocodile but is probably a Elasmosaurus type of large water-dwelling dinosaur. Here is what Job 41 says with my comments in brackets, "v9 you be laid low even at the sight of him? (This was a large animal) v10 No one is so fierce that he dares to arouse him; v25 When he raises himself up, the mighty fear; (crocs don't raise up at all but are always low) Because of the crashing they are bewildered. v26 (This animal was large! This animal made seismic thunder as it walked. You know...that slow, low, terrifying thud that Jurassic park portrayed so well.) v26 The sword that reaches him cannot avail; (crocs are quite easy to kill with a good spear) Nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin. (Croc wrestling is a sport, the croc usually looses) v31 He makes the depths boil like a pot; He makes the sea like a jar of ointment. v32 Behind him he makes a wake to shine; (crocs make little wake if any) v34 He looks on everything that is high" (again it was a tall animal with a long neck).

What is significant about this is that if "Behemoth" and "Leviathan" are dinosaurs, then is it crystal clear that Job had either seen them personally, or there was a recent memory of them. This of course flies in the face of current evolutionary theory.

The Paluxy River in Texas is the home of Dinosaur National Park with hundreds of fossil dinosaur tracks. Right beside the dinosaur tracks are three sets of human fossil footprints and a large cat track. The most famous track is the Taylor Trail which consists of a series of 14 footprints in a left-right pattern. The stride and foot length is consistent throughout. The evidence is so convincing that several university students recently presented with all the data accepted that the human footprints were real, but doubted the dinosaur footprints were real. All the fossil footprints in the Park are genuine. No informed person would ever suggest that the human footprints were carved as was irresponsibly rumored 50 years ago. It is clear that man and dinosaur live together and co-existed at the same time. With this both science and the Bible agree!

“You crushed the heads of Leviathan; you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness” (Psalm 74:4) and the author uses the very same Hebrew word “livyathan” which again, when translated, means “sea monster” or “dragon.” Next to Job 41, Isaiah gives us the clearest evidence that this is no star constellation or fossil that he is writing about as we read in Isaiah 27:1 “In that day the Lord with his hard and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.” Here Isaiah not only uses the word for sea monster or dragon (Hebrew “livyathan”) but the word “dragon” which is from the Hebrew word “tanniyn” and means “dragon, serpent” or “sea monster” which could also be another name for a dinosaur. This “dragon” is just another name for the leviathan because the context of this sentence shows that the Lord will punish the leviathan…the twisting serpent, and slay the dragon (tanniyn) that is in the sea. This is surely no constellation that Isaiah is writing about nor is it any fossil that has been discovered.

The very first mention of a leviathan comes in Job 3:8 where it says “Let those curse it who curse the day, who are ready to rouse up Leviathan.” The Hebrew word for leviathan is “livyathan” and means “sea monster” or “dragon” and could be possibly be the extinct dinosaur, the plesiosaurus. The plesiosaurus was a genus of large marine sauropterygian reptile. The name “plesiosaurus” means “almost lizard” so clearly it could have been what Job was writing about, even if he had made observations about the skeletal remains or fossil remains of one. It was one of the largest, though not the largest by far, aquatic animals that ever lived and was about 15 feet long and weighed approximately 1,000 pounds. Job could have also been referring to the constellation Draco but the reason I don’t believe Job is referring to a constellation is because of what he writes in later chapters as we shall read.

In Job chapter 41 and verse one I believe we see why this leviathan that Job mentions in chapter one cannot simply be a constellation because in Job 41:1 it says “Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord?” If the leviathan were only a constellation, the references given in all of Job 41 would seem out of context for some star constellation. In fact, it may be more than just the extinct plesiosaurus because of the many descriptions that Job gives. In Job chapter 41 we should ask, can it be said about a 15 foot plesiosaurus or constellation or even a whale that it has razor sharp teeth like iron that can swallow its prey whole (v 14) or where the weapons of man cannot penetrate its body (v 26-29) and can destroy its prey by simply passing over it (v 30) and has absolutely no fear whatsoever of anything (v 31-34)? A surprising find in 2008 revealed by the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway was one of the largest dinosaur sea predators ever found. It was a Pliosaur Kronosaurus which is estimated to be over 50 feet long. The teeth that remained are still sharp enough to cut wood. Job warned that if you “Lay your hands on him; remember the battle—you will not do it again” (Job 41:8) since “No one is so fierce that he dares to stir him up” and “ Who then is he who can stand before me” (Job 41:10)?

OSTRICHES ARE RELATED TO DINOSAURS:

Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust, And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.(Job 39:13-15)

Fact! Ostrich tissue is very similar to that found in a T-Rex (Dinosaur)

Now here's a chick story - featuring a fearsome female not even a certain California governor would dare mess with. Three months ago, paleontologist Mary Higby Schweitzer of North Carolina State University stunned the world by announcing she'd found soft tissue inside the thigh bone of "T. rex," a 68-million-year-old tyrannosaurus skeleton unearthed in eastern Montana in 2003.

Didn't anyone tell her that was impossible? Marrow, veins, cells - all that squishy stuff - is supposed to be mineralized away after 100,000 years or so. Dinosaur fossils are supposed to be nothing but rocks, right?

So much for that theory. Under a microscope, the vessels inside the thigh looked identical to those of an ostrich, which puts both ostriches and T. rex in a whole new light.

                           Dino-Turkey

New International Version
Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.(Matthew 24:28)

We report on similar pathological bone microstructure in an extant turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) and a nonavian dinosaur from Transylvania. Both these individuals exhibit distinctive periosteal reactive bone deposition accompanied by endosteal bone deposits in the medullary cavity. Our findings have direct implications on the two novel bone tissues recently described among nonavian dinosaurs, radial fibrolamellar bone tissue and medullary bone tissue. On the basis of the observed morphology of the periosteal reactive bone in the turkey vulture and the Transylvanian dinosaur, we propose that the radial fibrolamellar bone tissues observed in mature dinosaurs may have had a pathological origin. Our analysis also shows that on the basis of origin, location, and morphology, pathologically derived endosteal bone tissue can be similar to medullary bone tissues described in nonavian dinosaurs. As such, we caution the interpretation of all endosteally derived bone tissue as homologous to avian medullary bone.

While the turkey on the table may not seem quite as fierce as the Cretaceous “terrible claw” Deinonychus, they are both feathered dinosaurs, cousins separated by about 110 million years. Birds were the only lineage of dinosaur to survive the catastrophe that wiped out their relatives 66 million years ago. Of course, our species wasn’t the first to dine on dinosaur.

New International Version
"'Of the animals that move along the ground, these are unclean for you: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,(Leviticus 11:29)

Monitor Lizards or Biawak in Malay, are members of the family Varanidae, a group of carnivorous lizards which includes the heaviest living lizard, the Indonesian Komodo dragon, with the crocodile monitor being the longest in the world and the Malaysian Water Monitor the second largest by weight.

No kidding, Monitor Lizards really are living dinosaurs! During the Pleistocene epoch, giant Monitor Lizards lived in Southeast Asia and Australasia, the best known fossil being Varanus priscus (formerly known asMegalania prisca).
