And they cast out many devils, and anointed with (Olive)oil many that were sick, and healed them.
Olive oil is the extract obtained when the olive fruit is pressed. It is commonly used for culinary purposes, pharmaceuticals, soaps and fuels for traditional oil lamps. Olive oil is the only vegetable oil that can safely be consumed as soon as it is extracted from the fruit. According to HealingDaily.com, consumption of olive oil can have great health benefits due to its high concentrations of monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidant substances.
CARDIAC HEALTH
According to the Mayo Clinic, consumption of olive oil can have beneficial effects for your heart's health. Due to the presence of monounsaturated fats, the concentration of low density lipoproteins in the body is lowered when you consume olive oil. LDLs are the bad form of cholesterol that eventually lead to plaque formation on the walls of the coronary arteries. Extra virgin olive oil, the least processed form of olive oil, has additional antioxidant properties that have a protective effect against heart disease.
GALLSTONE REDUCTION
According to the Divine Prescription and Science of Health and Healing, by Gunther B. Paulien, consumption of olive oil may drastically reduce the occurrence of gallstones within the human body. The consumption of olive oil stimulates the production of bile and pancreatic secretions that drastically reduce the formation of gallstones. An experiment conducted by Dr. E.M. Brockbank revealed the actual weight of a gallstone was reduced by 68 percent after two days of being submerged in pure olive oil.
COLON CANCER PREVENTION
According to a 2005 article in the International Journal of Cancer, the consumption of olive oil may induce preventative measures against certain forms of cancer, especially colon cancer. Olive oil contains oleic acid and other phenols that have antioxidant benefits in the body. Antioxidants rid the body of free radicals that cause cell damage and may even lead to some forms of cancer. This 2005 study, performed at the Northern Ireland Centre for Food and Health, for example, showed that the phenols extracted from olive oil were capable of inhibiting colon cancer at different stages.
